Rainforest Rental Village Wake up to something beautiful

Rainforest Rental Village - Our Story

Some places have magic in their bones. Rainforest Rental Village is one of them.

Opened in 1964 as Mudgeeraba Caravan Park by Gold Coast personality Big Kev, this site on the banks of Mudgeeraba Creek has been one of the Gold Coast hinterland’s best-kept secrets for over 60 years.

Long before the beaches got crowded and the theme parks took over, people who knew — really knew — the Gold Coast were drawn here. Birdwatchers. Bushwalkers. Nature lovers. People who wanted to wake up to the sound of a creek and a chorus of rainforest birds rather than an alarm clock.

For six decades, this place was home to that kind of person.

Reborn, not replaced

In 2022, Jonic Properties acquired the site with a clear vision: honour everything that made this place special, and build something worthy of it.

What followed was a multi-million dollar transformation. Every cabin on the property has been replaced with a brand new, architect-designed, eco-friendly home. All infrastructure and services have been fully upgraded to meet current codes and standards — from power and water to roads and amenities. Nothing has been patched up or made do. It has all been done properly, from the ground up.

Think of it like a beloved old brand being rediscovered, reimagined and relaunched — better in every way, but with the soul still intact.

The land comes first

The centrepiece of the transformation isn’t the cabins. It’s the land itself.

Rainforest Rental Village sits on a remnant rainforest site — a designation that recognises its ecological significance and places a responsibility on anyone who stewards it. Jonic Properties took that responsibility seriously.

Exotic and introduced plant species on the property have been systematically removed and replaced with species endemic to the local rainforest ecosystem. The result has been remarkable. Native parrots, cockatoos, lorikeets and an array of rainforest bird species — including species recorded along Mudgeeraba Creek such as the Australian King-Parrot, Azure Kingfisher, Brown Cuckoo-Dove, Eastern Whipbird and Lewin’s Honeyeater — have returned to the canopy. Freshwater turtles and platypus have returned to the creek. The creek itself has been fully regenerated, with fish populations re-establishing in water that is cleaner and healthier than it has been in years.

This work has been carried out in close partnership with City of Gold Coast environmental officers and Watergum land conservationists, whose expertise in local rainforest restoration has been invaluable.

A location like no other

Mudgeeraba sits at the gateway to some of the Gold Coast’s most spectacular natural landscape.

Springbrook National Park — part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests of Australia — is on your doorstep. Its ancient beech trees (some over 3,000 years old), 16 waterfalls, abundant wildlife and extensive walking tracks make it one of Queensland’s great natural treasures.

Nearby, the Austinville Rock Pools offer some of the most picturesque freshwater swimming in South East Queensland — smooth rock formations, clear water and a natural waterfall slide, tucked away in the hinterland just minutes from the village. Cougal Cascades in Currumbin Valley and the walking trails of the Mudgeeraba Hinterland Regional Park are equally close.

For those who love being outdoors — whether that’s birdwatching, bushwalking, swimming in rock pools or simply sitting beside a creek and watching the world go by — there is no better base on the Gold Coast.

Built for the way you want to live

Rainforest Rental Village is still a park where you can live with a like minded community — 83 architect-designed, eco-friendly cabins and 5 caravan sites set within lush rainforest surroundings, beside the tranquil Mudgeeraba Creek.

Jonic Properties has spent over 20 years delivering high-quality residential developments across South East Queensland. In more recent years, that focus has turned to something they believe matters deeply: providing genuinely beautiful, affordable rental accomodation for those who deserve better than what the market has typically offered them.

Rainforest Rental Village is the fullest expression of that commitment. It combines the quality of a premium development with a natural setting that simply cannot be manufactured or replicated — because it took 60 years, and a creek, and a rainforest, to create it.

A bit more detail...

When you do step outside the village, everything you need is within easy reach — and that’s not a marketing line, it’s genuinely true. Mudgeeraba Shopping Village is just five minutes away, with Coles, Woolworths, Australia Post, medical centres, dental, physio and optometry all in one place, plus a handful of good cafes and boutique shops.  Another 5 minutes takes you to Robina Town Centre regional shopping centre, Robina Hospital, Robina Train Station and the full run of large retailers — Bunnings, SuperCheap Auto, Petbarn and more.

The rainforest is at your front door. Everything else is just down the road.

More than 80 cabins have been completed and are now happily called home. If Rainforest Rental Village sounds like the kind of place you’d like to live, we’d love to hear from you — simply get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s available.
